Why Jojoba Oil?

Updated: May 8, 2023

Jojoba oil is derived from the seeds of the jojoba plant, a perennial native to the North American deserts. It is extracted by cold-pressing, a process that helps maintain the rich nutritional value of the oil.

“Jojoba oil contains vitamins E, A and D, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory properties. It is technically not an oil, but a wax ester. As a result, jojoba oil is lighter and less oily than other oils like argan and coconut for instance. Which means it’s good for the skin and won’t clog your pores.”

Jojoba oil has a similar molecular structure and composition to sebum, which the skin naturally produces for moisturization. When you slather it on your face, jojoba oil mimics the skin’s sebum and balances out your complexion, adding more sebum where it’s needed, and winding down production where it’s not. When jojoba oil comes in contact with your skin, it tells your oil glands to decrease oil production. There’s an old saying that oil cancels oil.

Sebum also naturally coats your strands, making your hair feel soft and boosts shine.

While other oils tend to go rancid fast, jojoba oil typically has a much longer shelf life.

Jojoba oil is a powerhouse for your clean beauty routine. Rich in its beauty-boosting ingredients it doesn’t tend to clog your pores and may help acne-prone skin.
